This one was over before the echoes of the opening gun were gone.
Ohio State scored three touchdowns in the first six minutes of the game en route to a 76-0 shellacking of hapless Florida A&M in front of a delighted Columbus crowd. Florida A&M managed just two first downs and just 71 yards of total offense on the entire game, while Ohio State was able to rack up over 600 yards of its own.
Ohio State QB Kenny Guiton set an Ohio State record with six touchdown passes in a single game; that he did it in just one half of work makes the performance all the more ridiculous. Guiton did come back in the game in the third quarter after Cardale Jones hurt his hand, but Guiton threw no passes; indeed, Ohio State ran the ball exclusively in the second half.
Box Score Hero: Obviously, throwing six touchdowns for the first time in program history is worth noticing, and he is the hero on the day. Guiton was 24-for-34 with 215 yards when it was all said and done. And remember, he's the backup; Braxton Miller should be back in action next week.
Rankings Ramifications: Ohio State finally has the sexy blowout voters love, but it probably won't be enough to push the Buckeyes past Oregon or Clemson, so count on the No. 4 ranking remaining static unless something horrible happens to the teams ahead.
But Did They Cover? Yes, but it was closer than you'd think. Ohio State was favored by a ludicrous 51 points coming into the game, one of the largest lines of the season.
